Get the Information You Need

A positive pregnancy test is an essential first step, but it doesn’t tell you everything you need to know. To protect your health and fully explore your options, it’s necessary to confirm how far along you are, whether the pregnancy is developing as expected, and its location.

At My Choices Pregnancy Resource Center, we offer free limited ultrasounds after a positive pregnancy test at our center. These scans give you the facts to make confident, informed decisions.

Why an Ultrasound Matters

An ultrasound uses sound waves to create a picture of the pregnancy inside your uterus. This scan provides critical details that a pregnancy test alone cannot:

  • Viability: The scan checks for a developing pregnancy and can detect a heartbeat. Around one in four pregnancies end naturally in miscarriage, so confirming viability is essential before considering your next steps.
  • Gestational Age: Knowing how far along you are helps guide your options. For example, the abortion pill is only FDA-approved through 10 weeks of pregnancy.
  • Location: An ultrasound shows whether the pregnancy is inside the uterus. A pregnancy that develops outside the uterus, known as an ectopic pregnancy, is rare but life-threatening and requires immediate medical treatment.

Types of Ultrasound Scans

Most early ultrasounds are transvaginal, which means a small wand-like device called a transducer is gently inserted into the vagina to capture clear images of the uterus.

When the pregnancy is further along, an abdominal ultrasound is performed. The transducer will move across the surface of your lower belly. Both approaches are safe, and we will explain each step, answer your questions, and ensure you feel comfortable throughout the process.

Obtain a Confidential Limited Ultrasound

Facing an unplanned pregnancy can feel overwhelming, but you are not alone. We will guide you through the scan, review the results with you, and offer a private space to process what you learn. You are welcome to bring a partner, friend, or family member if you’d like extra support.

After the ultrasound, you’ll meet one-on-one with a client advocate who can discuss your results and explain your options, whether you’re exploring parenting, adoption, or seeking information about abortion.

We will never pressure you; our goal is to give you the facts so you can make the best decision for your health and future.
